Abstract
This study was designed to analyze the sequential mediating effects of depression and social participation in the relationship between the relative poverty and subjective health status among late middle-aged population. The data set used for this study was from 2018 Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging(KLoSA) by Korea Labor Institute. The data set used for this study included 2,580 late middle-aged person(55-64 age group). The data were analyzed by using AMOS 22.0 and Bootstrapping, Multi-group analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, the mediating effect of depression and social participation was verified in the relationship between relative poverty and subjective health of the subject. Second, the sequential mediating effect of relative poverty in the late middle-aged population on subjective health status by sequentially mediating depression and social participation was verified. Third, multi-group path analysis of employment status shows significant differences in the path in which depression levels affect subjective health, and depression decreases subjective health levels in both groups, but its influence is stronger in unemployed groups than in employment groups. In addition, while relative poverty and social participation levels were not significant in the employment group, high levels of relative poverty in the unemployed group significantly reduced the level of social participation. Based on these findings, practical and political suggestions were made to promote mental health and welfare of the late middle ?aged population.
